How to rescue a relationship from the brink of breakdown
This week’s episode of the Fearless Forward podcast is breaking new ground.
I'm talking to a married couple about a moment in their life when their relationship, and their family, nearly fell apart.
Jon Smith is co-founder and CEO of Pobble, an educational technology company. Lori Alexa-Smith is an associate director of a multinational infrastructure consulting firm.
Looking at their life, you'd be forgiven for thinking they have it all. They're both highly qualified, immensely talented people who’ve achieved a lot. John studied engineering at Oxford and has an MBA from London Business School. Laurie obtained a degree in business and economics in her native Romania and later a master's in construction management from Bath University. Today, they have two beautiful children and live in an idyllic part of the UK.
But... like so many tales of success, there was a point when things started going horribly wrong. In the face of multiple sources of stress, their lives and their work were crumbling around them.
Our conversation explores how they found the will, the love, and the commitment to piece it back together and learn what they needed to move forward together.
This episode will help you:
Explore how to rebuild a relationship after significant personal and professional challenges.
Understand the importance of pausing to acknowledge overwhelming stress and consciously prioritise self-care.
Learn how taking a step back and adopting a curious mindset can help reframe conflict and rebuild connection.
With love from the mountain,
